Student of the Week – Jacqui O’Leary

Jacqui O’Leary is 17 years old and a senior at Thayer Academy in Braintree. She has been studying piano for eleven years. Jacqui is an avid animal lover and has shown and placed her dogs in 4H Competitions. She is ultra-creative, making wood paintings and maintaining native gardens. She loves the out-of-doors, spending time in Maine and practicing piano. Jacqui recently prepared a video of three polished pieces to add to her college application portfolio! Winter Dupont – Student of the Week!

Winter is eight years old and in the third grade. He lives in Scituate with his parents and his brother, Linux and sister, Thisbe. He started piano lessons in January 2020, and only had a handful of in-person lessons before we went completely virtual!

Winter loves playing Magic the Gathering card game, especially with his cousin Micah Mulder! He enjoys: math, playing with friends outdoors, and reading. His favorite color is green and his favorite food is fried rice. One of his favorite activities currently is learning about weird, but true facts— he knows over 700 facts and is proud of it! Thanks for sharing your music, Winter!

The top video is Winter playing “Dance of the Spider and the Fly” by Donald Waxman and the bottom one is “Peter’s Song,” also by Donald Waxman!

Eliza Mulder- Student of the Week!

Eliza loved these two pieces by Seymour Bernstein – “Swoosh and Crash” which depicts ocean waves crashing on the rocks below the composer’s summer home in Maine and “Silvery Path,” depicting a moonlit path where Mr. Bernstein raccoon friends played at night.
Eliza is nine years old and attends Cushing Elementary School in Scituate. She loves her animals, riding her bike, and playing with her siblings – Micah, Clayton and Naomi. She is an amazing pianist, as you can see, and is especially interested in the fact that Mr. Bernstein happened to write a whole collection of pieces about the raccoons he “befriended” at his summer home.
